Whernside doesn't have the most dramatic of profiles, especially when compared to its' "Three Peaks" partners, of Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent. Its' south east facing slopes however, do get some of the best of the winter light in the hour or two before sunset. I'm not sure how it got its' name, but this image was taken from an area curiously known as "Braithwaite wife hole", on the edge of Ravens Scar Limestone pavement.
