rolling chalk fields, near thixendale, yorkshire wolds

A favourite location near Thixendale in the Yorkshire Wolds. Although only a small area, the undulating fields here are reminiscent of the rolling landscape of the South Downs. The strange lighter toned pattern in the soil is the underlying chalk which makes the Yorkshire Wolds such a fertile area for crop growing.
