Mature Beech woodland near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Shooting woodland definitely offers extra options for landscape photography over the wider, sweeping countryside views. Although it makes sense not to categorise with a 'best' type of light for shooting these areas, it is possible to produce good images in light that wouldn't be as favourable for more open views, such as soft, overcast and even. Just as well then, given the amount of rain and cloud we seem to get throughout the autumn and winter months in the U.K now.
