Some favourite geology at Saltwick Bay, Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast. I've returned to this barnacle clad rock on numerous occasions to shoot the same or similar composition. The shape of it always reminds me of a blacksmiths anvil, and although the rock is centred, which goes against traditional rule, I think it works well here, and shows the actual forces at work which created the unique undercut shape of the rock. This coastal landscape image was photographed in summer from the northern side of Saltwick Bay looking south to Black Nab.
