One to one photography courses and workshops (Full Day)

The one to one photography workshops and courses are aimed at both complete beginners and more advanced enthusiasts alike. They are the ideal solution for anyone just starting out with photography, and looking to gain a better understanding of their digital SLR and its myriad of functions and settings, but also for anyone looking to advance their knowledge of locations, composition and some of the more advanced photography techniques. The beauty of a bespoke one to one landscape photography workshop is that you can decide a day and a location that exactly suits you. Just give me an idea of whether you would like to spend the day on the Yorkshire Coast, The Yorkshire Dales, The Yorkshire Wolds, The Peak District or even the Pennine moors of West Yorkshire, and I can suggest a few suitable areas for the particular time of year, usually around the seasonal highlights. You can also just give me an idea of the subjects you enjoy photographing. For instance; The Limestone Pavements of The Yorkshire Dales, seascapes or wider countryside views. You will receive my full attention for the duration of the day and you can also ask for help in any particular photographic area that you may have been struggling with. In the past I've been asked to provide one to one photography tuition on a number of more specialised subjects. Some of which include, using Tilt & Shift lenses, shooting and processing panoramic images and shooting and processing images for exposure blending. All one to one tuition is tailored to your individual requirement by way of a short and un-complicated questionnaire.

Ordinarily, and depending on ability level and experience a few of the subjects we can possibly cover include;

• Good tripod technique
• Exposure (ISO, Apertures, shutter speeds)
• Depth of field (Manual, Hyperfocal Focusing)
• Advantages of shooting in manual and Raw format
• Seeing images, explanations and examples of various methods of composition
• Correct use of wide angle lenses
• Correct use of filters (ND grads, standard NDs, Polarisers)
• Using tilt/shift lenses
• Shooting and processing stitched panoramic images
• Shoot/location planning around best lighting/conditions and seasonal highlights
• A basic Adobe Lightroom/Photoshop workflow from Raw conversion through to preparation for web or print

A typical day lasts around ten hours from start to finish, and because the workshops are specifically tailored to your needs, you can break the day up however you like. In the summer months many people prefer to start the day later, and include a sunset shoot, or it is possible to take the day in two halves, shooting the sunrise and sunset with a break during the middle of the day. With the shorter days of the winter months, it is possible to start the day before sunrise and conclude photographing the sunset.

Price for a full day of one to one tuition is £250.00 for one photographer or £375.00 for two photographers. Additional photographers thereafter are charged at £125.00 per person. A £50.00 deposit is due at the time of booking, with the balance payable by bank transfer on arrangement of date and location.
